What is Discovery Camp about?

Discovery Camp is an annual residential leadership development camp for young people aged 13 to 19 years.

Why is it targeted at 13-19 year olds only?

We believe they are prime to discover themselves, appreciate their innate abilities, unearth the leadership potential in them and be exposed to the right attitudes and skills required to succeed in life and business.

Is Discovery Camp a faith-based program?

No, DC is meant for all youth, irrespective of faith, seeking to discover and develop themselves.

Are participants expected from Ghana only?

Discovery Camp is being marketed internationally in order to enrich the experience, and so participants are expected from different countries worldwide.

What’s the fee for the camp?

Cost of attendance to Discovery Camp 2018 would be determined and posted soon

How can one effect payment?

Payment can be made online or direct cash payment or funds/wire transfer into the designated bank account details only provided on the Apply & Pay page of the Camp website. For easy identification of each participant’s payment, it is required that the applicant’s SURNAME and INITIALS are used as reference in payment.

Is there an initial deposit required and why?

Upon application to DC, an initial deposit of GHC 000 for (Ghanaian participants) or US$ 000 for (international participants) is required to hold the applicant’s place on the program until full payment is effected.

How can one register?

Application forms will be completed and received online only.

Do you have any scholarships for interested participants who cannot afford the fee?

Not directly, but we encourage corporate, religious and non-governmental institutions, to identify and sponsor interested participants who cannot afford the fee at this point in time. We hope that in future when there is adequate sponsorship, we would be able to offer such assistance directly.

Why should my child attend this camp?

The objective of Discovery Camp is to help young people discover their talents and gifts, and unearth the leadership potential in them. Refer to the DC page of the website for more.

Where is the camp going to be held?

The venue will be the Morgan International Community School (MICS) at Gomoa Manso, near Swedru; it is approximately a 90-minute drive from the Kotoka International Airport in Accra. MICS is a recently commissioned (2013), well-resourced international high school located in a safe and serene country-side. You may visit their website at www.mics.edu.gh.

How long is the camp?

It is a 14-day event.

Who are the organizers of DC and their background?

Discovery Camp is an initiative of Leaders & Mentors International (L&MI).

How can I contact my child during the camp?

Children will be allowed to bring phones to the camp but can also be contacted through the Camp Secretariat on the officially posted communication lines.

What is expected of my child at the camp?

Participants are expected to come with a determination to learn and take advantage of all the opportunities that this camp will offer. Discipline, respect for other participants, respect for camp staff, openness, desire to learn from others and cooperation in all activities will be critical to how valuable and impactful the camp is to each participant.

Are phones allowed at camp?

Yes, phones are allowed at the Camp but their use will be controlled and limited to participants’ ‘free time’ only.

How is my child’s security guaranteed?

Morgan International Community School provides a safe, secure and conducive environment that promotes focus and learning without any distractions.  CCTV cameras are positioned at vantage locations around the campus to monitor activities round the clock.

What are the arrangements for refund in the unlikely event that after making payment, my child is not able to attend the camp?

Cancellation conditions will apply in this case.  Kindly refer to the Cancellation Policy on the Apply & Pay page.

How many participants are you expecting at the camp per session?

About 50 participants per session, but actual numbers will depend on demand. The campus is fully equipped to accommodate over 300 high school students at any point in time.
